Hello forum. Here's a picture of the underside of my console. Where and how do I begin? I have already seen a schematic of the wiring. That's not helping me though. I really can't make too much sense of it. I wish there was a more user friendly wiring plan. Any suggestions?

Yea. take lots more photos for reference, close ups too. I also had one that looked just like, I redid the big gangely mess and found that the harness was double looped over itself because it was too long and that's how the installer dealt with the slack, my guess is it was a one harness fits all no matter what length the boat.

After you replace any multi spliced wires, clean up the mess with some zip ties.

You can get through that mess. It takes time, but you can work your way back to a very clean set of wiring.

First, I saw at least one fuse 'hanging' you may have others. You might want to get yourself a BlueSea fuse box or other similar box. I like the auto style (knife edge) fuses.

Second get a few different color wires, black, red at least, and a good crimper and good crimps (Use the ones that are covered, or heat shrink tape and cover yourself.

then start with the end in mind.

First cut EVERY zip tie you have.... don't try to figure it out with thm there.

Where is your ground. Find all the grounds and make sure you mark and identify all of them. They all will go to one point. Remove all the junk grounds, and replace with clean, new grounds. make sure everything works

Then start with simple, positives - like your radio. Find the positives, mark the ends, cut and replace the wires. make sure it works. repeat

eventually you will have gotten down to some of the more complex wires with the guages and starting circuits. Many times these have not been changed much, so you can figure them out, once the other junk is cleaned up.

As others say, take a million pictures, you will not need them, unless you don't have them.

Welcome aboard the forums!
