I am currently replacing a few parts and doing routine maintenance (new thermostat, new water pump/impeller) and I cannot get it started!! It worked on the boat, idled very rough and would cut out on me but started every time. Now thats its off the boat and in my basement I can't get it to make a peep, nothing, nada, zero. I thought it was the battery or any issue with the position of the shifter but it seems to be a short somewhere on the motor. I have the motor attached to my usual fully charged batter and each time i go to hook up to the battery it is blowing the fuse on the cord. There are 2, 7.5 amp fuses on the positive battery cable and i keep blowing one or both. The fuse in the motor (20amp) is fine! I have looked over all the wires but I am at a total loss. Everything SEEMS good but I'm not really sure what to do next or how to find the short. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hahaha, quite alright to ask! No that was the first thing I checked. Thought it had to be some boneheaded move like that but unfortunately not that easy

get a wiring schematic to see what is on the circuits that blow that fuse, isolate them or wires. process of elimination
