I own a 2002 Crestliner 1700 Fishhawk and some of the wiring is disconnected under the dash. Does anyone have access or know where I can get access to a wiring diagram for the boat? The boat is rigged with a 2002 90 HP Mercury 2 Stroke and I need to make sure the oil reservoir alarm is correctly connected.

Thanks Dave

Re: Electrical Questions about 2002 1700 Crestliner

The Merc service manual for that engine (I have the exact engine) has numerous wiring diagrams covering everything associated with the engine and it's operation. Other than that, like for lights and things, Find an empty fuse in the fuse box or wire directly across the battery with an inline fuse (20 amp is a good number, or 10 amp just for lights) and take the power and ground (power through an on/off switch) to whatever you want to light up. 14 AWG wire for the 20 if wiring is randomly run (not tied up tight in a harness wrapped in tape) 16 awg for the 10. On the fuel gauge, find a purple wire (12v switched by engine operating switch...fused back at the engine) and put that on n the + terminal of the gauge...16 awg wire is plenty since you are already using it elsewhere. Run a wire from the - terminal of the gauge to the sending unit in the top of the fuel tank. That wire goes to the screw in the center of the disc. The disc itself requires a wire (ground) that makes it's way back to the battery - terminal

The Merc part number for my manual is 90-830234R3 and is for that engine S/N 0D283222 and above. I was looking the other day and there are now revisions higher than R3 so you might want one of them, or my manual is no longer in print. Manuals cost pretty good, but if you are going to have a boat and do any work yourself, they are a must to have.

HTH,

Mark
