My 1997 9.9 two stroke Johnson has intermittent spark. It kicks in and out constantly and I have no idea what the cause is.<br /><br />Any suggestions-Thanks

Have you inspected the ignition leads for possible chaffing, and potential arching?????<br /> You could have a plug going bad as well.... <br />gfem, BTW, welcome aboard!

Thanks. Both plugs are good. Two leads off the motor (DC) power lights, radio etc, so I assume there is a stator, rectifier, coil, points etc. How do I access them for testing. Do I pull the flywheel off. There are several electrical "boxes" grouped together above the plugs, but I don't know what does what. Should I pull them all off for continuity testing and then reinstall??<br /><br />This site is a great idea. I used to post questions on the wooden boat forum when I was trying to fix a leak in my 52 foot classic thirties boat. <br /><br />GM
