Is there a way to convert my 1983 3.8 OMC to electronic Ignition and how much $$ should I expect?

Why you want to convert?

My humble onion you can replace alot of points for 250 bucks for the kit and then you will have to buy a new esa module another 100 so bucks.

My humble un-educated opinion leave it ALONE.

Its running good?

Timed good?

Tuned good?

Leave it alone.

although I highly recommend vintagepreformance for Pertronix kits, their site is wrong. That kit will only work on 4.3's.
Due to the unique semi-even firing order of the chevy 229, Pertronix never made a magnet ring that reflects the bizarre pattern required.
If anyone ever pulls the distributor out of a 229, make sure you have the Mercruiser (not OMC) manual for the 185/V6 to reinstall it on the correct lobe for #1.
It's bizarre and tricky and the OMC factory manual says nuthin' about how to index it correctly.
The Mercruiser manual for V6's has a special page dedicated to installing the 229 distributor. Page 4B-11 of manual #7
