Electronic or points coils

Good day...I was told yesterday from a fellow who said that electronic and points set up use different coils....any truth to that...I bought a flame thrower 40000 ..1.5ohm for my points system

Follow the COIL manufacturers destructions for ballast resistor. Some coils such as used with GM HEI draw much more current when used with points. And coils "truly" engineered for CDI such as MSD are quite different from old school "points" coils. Having said that, with todays Chinesoization of parts, quality is another issue.
