Motor is a Yamaha P40 1998 2 stroke.
My question is, does this enrichment valve have any influence on the performance of the engine after the engine is warmed and the valve shuts off? Example, if the valve diaphram has a small tear in it, will it effect the idle or WOT after warm up? Thanks

Note: A few days ago my engine wouldn't idle and would smother out on take off but ran great at WOT. After reading everything I could find on this forum and reading my manual over and over, I got brave and tore the carbs down soaked and cleaned them. Now it idles and runs great again. The best advice I got on this forum was to take lots of pictures from different angles.

Re: Electrothermal enrichment valve

we can rule that out, the electrothermal valve doesnt have a diaphram.
problem solved.
if the diaphram has a tear it will run very rich at warm idle, a stuck electrothermal valve may be either rich or lean depending on where it stuck.
