This old motor still turns over and has good compression. Would like to try getting it running again but two things are in the way. One, finding an impeller and figuring out a way to remove the flywheel.
If anyone has any usefull info on this please respond. Have numbers for it.
Model 571 5970 S/N 9701 10445
Thanks.

Re: Elgin 7.5

Sorry for such a late reply.
It's a 1956 http://www.discount-marine-parts.com/ob_elgin_2.html
You can get an impeller at http://home.earthlink.net/~flyingscott/index.html

Hopefully you've already gotten the flywheel off. I've had to loosen the flywheel nut to the top of the threads and give it a rap with a hammer to loosen them in the past. Unfortunately, this puts a lot of impact on parts inside that could be hurt. I never had an engine die because of this, but have since obtained a flywheel puller that I think is just a modified steering wheel puller.
