Hi Pigfamer<br />Your 2Hp Elgin motor was made by West Bend in 1955. West Bend was bought by Chrysler Marine div. which ended up as Force. Elgin was a Sears brand name. This motor makes 2Hp@4000 RPM. Uses spark plug J11J (Champ) Gapped@ .050 The point gap is .020. The fuel mix is 16:1. These little motors are not rare, so there are plenty of used parts to be had. The same for the Clinton as to parts. The Clinton J9 I have listed as being made from 1959-1965. This is as close as I can come to a year. The fuel mix is 8oz oil to the gal of gasoline. This motor uses Champion plug J12J gaped @ .025. Pointgap is .020. Both the Clinton and Elgin are air cooled power heads. They have a provision for water cooling the leg (exhaust pipe). Thrust from the prop forces water up a small pipe to do this. There is no servicable water pump. While these motors are interesting and fun to play with and a must for any collection. They have very little market value.
