Re: email blues

Ebb, I hope someone else has an answer for you. I have no experience using Yahoo, MSN or AOL mail. Can you use Outlook as a client to get the mail? I thought I read somewhere that Yahoo was going to let you do that, but it was going to be in their premium package that would include charges for the service. If so, then the latest versions of Outlook have this feature. It does not work well since it makes its own rules. That means when you say this email is spam, then it makes it own rule to identify the thing in the email that will let it recognize the next one. This means it may pick something that is common to a legit email. Before we got a spam product here at work, I used the Outlook version and had some email from my boss deleted by the spam filter before I read it. At least it was internal and not from a client.

Re: email blues

Spam is a tough one, almost impossible to filter out too. One thing that has worked for me is to have 2 e-mail addresses. One for the people I know and trust to not give it out, and a second for filling out all other requests for an email address. This way I only get smammed on the email i dont really need to read, except sometimes to get a password, ect.

My experence has been that the filters generly are no good, it is so tough to cypher what is good and what isnt.

This is one area I think we need some legislation to combat the problem. Expecially when they are sending your kids porn sites.

Forever need deep in spam
DC

Guys...

Can't remember where I seen it but there are a couple software programs out there to filter out unwanted, unsolicited mail and pop-ups. Basically you load the program and tell it what you don't want. Circuit City maybe??? I'm on a digital server and am on line all the time. Spam is a big problem when logging on. Pop-ups everywhere! I've gone through the email and did the I don't want you anymore routine and the d*mn things still come back. Don't know what to do either.

OBJim

Re: email blues

My old ISP used Mail Sentry to filter all the virus' and spam. They filed it and I could go there to sift thru it and see if there was any thing i might want delivered. It worked great, but I believe it is only available to ISP's, not individuals.

I tried Hotmail once, got 200 spams the first week. :(

I have hotmail also, but I might get 1 or 2 e-mails a month that I don't want.
I also run an outlook program and it is very rare to get any spam on it.
Maybe my ISP is taking care of them.
