emergency kill switch wiring diagram.

need a diagram for wiring up a kill switch to my 1987 mercury xr2 150hp. . switch is a 4 prong seachoice . top and bottom prongs are labeled letter c and the sides are labeled m. or visa versa. new install ,came w/o insrtuctions

Take a meter and measure between C&C and with tether cord installed it should read open and this is correct. To wire into circuit attach a wire from a known ground to one side and other side your blk/yellow. When it is activated it will ground out the ignition just like turning key off...

Shouldn't he be using the two "M" terminals since this is a magneto engine. The switch is a universal variety (for magneto and battery ignition systems.). A battery ignition system requires a "closed" circuit for the engine to run (the "C" stands for coil). A magneto engine requires an open circuit to run (hence the "M" designation.) The two sysems operate opposite of each other. Regardless, if you use the "C" terminals and the engine doesn't start, pull the clip. It should then start. If that's the case, use the "M" terminals.

i guess the the next question would be , do i run a ground to 1 side and the black yellow to the other leaveing the black and yellow to the ignition side dead end as long as the blk/yell harness side is attached to the kill switch side ? correct? i dont want to burn ANYTHING to the ground so to speak. or fry anything in the process
