Have a 3.7l/165hp mercruiser, wondering if there any spares in particular I should carry on the boat at all times, i.e belts etc.
Also i take it that plugs leads etc can only be purchased through mercury?

Re: Emergency Spares

NeilMW,Good tool box is essential to start.Amazing how many people go out on the water without one.Spare prop is another must.Extra fan belt, plugs, tie wraps, duct tape, fuel filters, flashlight, flares etc.Basicaly anything you think you might need. And oh yes a safety kit too.I bought myself one of those cheap $10:00 walmart plastic tool boxes and am able to put everything I need right in it.Slide under the seat out of the way and your prepared for just about anything.Has saved me quite a few time from being towed in with the use of simple tools and parts.Hope this helps .....and oh yes you don't need the kitchen sink.LoL

I recently added to my emergency list a portable BBQ grill and 2 small propane tanks...if I am gonna get stuck out on the water...might as well make an "outing" of it while I wait for help to arrive.

-JMW

Good to throw in an extra bildge pump w/ hose or tubing, and a roll of TP in a ziploc bag! (in caseyour engine takes a dump), and matches, ( in case your boat takes a dump) ..sl
