I have a 2001 90 Hp Evinrude Ficht and it was diagnosed with a bad EMM. I can get a re-manufactured one for $450 or go to Evinrude and get one for $1,300. My mechanic told me that I have to get one set to the specifications of my motor or take all the info off my old one and transfer to the new one. I have an idea that he does not want to mess with it or is not sure if he can do it. I'm just wondering if you completely toast the EMM, would you have to junk the motor. What is the best procedure for replacing the EMM?
