2000 5.7L Mercruiser EFI engine (no serial #)
The last couple of weekends my boat will start, idle through no wake, come up on plane fine and then when I sit in a raft up for 2-4 hours, the boat will start and idle for about 1 minute. Then, a brief audio alarm and then about 3-5 seconds later the engine will sputter and die. It will start and run for about 3-5 seconds and stall. The alarm will not sound every time. Today I was able to start and rev the engine at about 4000 rpms. It sputtered some but the high rev kept the engine running. The alarm stayed constant for 10-12 secs. The alarm then stopped. I brought the rev back to idle and the boat ran fine back to the dock. I waited about 1 hour, started the engine and about 1 minute later the alarm sounded (briefly) and about 3-5 seconds later the engine stalled as if the fuel supply had been cut off.
I've read a little about an oil pressure switch stopping fuel flow to the injectors.
Oil pressure gauge reads good
Engine oil levels are good
Outdrive level is good
Engine Temp was good
Fuel Pump checked good
Injectors were good
Fuel was clean in clear container
Is there a sensor that shuts off fuel to the engine?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
