Engine Alignment Tool: Absolutely Needed?

Hello All,
Just pulled the Mcm 140 out of the boat, did not pull lag bolts, left front engine mount exactly where it was, took careful measurements from various points on the front of the engine and dropped the new engine in (another 140). Measurements match. Rear engine mounts seem to have no adjustment, drive shaft slides in smoothly, without a problem. Am I safe, or should I spend the $50 on the alignment tool?

Thanks in advance.

Spend the money to buy it and check it.

Checking engine alignment should be part of your annual maintenance tasks.

PS: do you happen to live in SoCal? My alignment bar is one tool I have lent out to fellow IBOATERs before.

Thanks everyone! I WISH I was in SoCal, but Northern Indiana will have to do for now...
