Engine Alignment Tool Dimensions

Hello All,

I really don't feel like spending over $100.00 for an engine alignment tool for my 1972 Alpha one drive to go with the GM 140 inline 4 engine when I have a couple of lathes in front of me and lots of material to make it out of. Does anyone have dimensions for the tool? I have seen one drawing, but it does not show a minimum length of the tool. Also, Should it be aluminum or steel?

I have seen this drawing, but I am unsure of the overall length. Is it longer that a bread basket, ... or 12"?

Ayuh,... Use Steel,+ about 24"/30" overall...

I attached a jpg of the dims I used to make mine. Made it out of cold roll Steel and oiled it for storage.

I looked at that and I clicked on the picture and printed it. The text that tells the length was not included. Maybe I should have looked a little closer, ... Sorry! :redface:

Looks like I have some work to do on my lunch breaks at work.

Thank you so much for the info. I looked it up and with the shipping cost, ... it comes out to about $50.00. Sounds very, very reasonable but it would leave me completely board on my lunch hour at work. I would like to try to make some of the more simpler tools that I will be needing when the time comes. Not only will it save me money, it will keep me occupied and others entertained at the same time!
