Engine boggs at higher rpm

I have a 1992 Volvo with the 2.3 l (230) engine. It ran great upto about 4000 rpm, and anything above that is would bogg down and lose power. The carb is a new Weber which I had last year and it ran great. I think it is a fuel issue and want to clean the intake screen, but I am not sure how I remove it.

Once I remove the anti-siphon valve, does the fitting and fuel pick-up just unscrew from the bulkhead? Or do I have to remove the bulkhead as well? I have attached a picture below. Don't want to wreck anything because replacing a fuel tank would be a real pain. Rather ask what may seem as a dumb question than make a dumb mistake.

Thanx for your help.

Re: Engine boggs at higher rpm

Hi there,
I am having the same issue with my 2007 with a volvo penta 3.0. My mechanic replaced the fuel pick-up and anti-siphon in less than 30 min. and did not remove the fuel tank. I am 95% sure it just "un-screws". I will say that having this done, as well as a regular tune-up, replacing the fuel/water separator(filter), and checking lines, the boat is still having the same issue. It is also now slowly loosing power and dying at slower RPMs. My next option is a carb or fuel pump but I didn't think it was a fuel pump until reading that you have a new webber carb. and it still didn't fix your problem.
Let me know how it goes for you and I will too! Good luck

Wow no body had an answer. I figured it out myself. Anyways the pickup fitting just screws out from the threaded bulkhead that is part of the tank. Just have to make sure that you don't twist the bulkhead while removing the pick up. All done now time for a sea trial.
