Last year I bought a 95 Bayliner with a 120 HP Force engine. It ran fine last season. This season 2nd time out I noticed it was idleing a little rough so I changed the plugs and changed the fuel filter. Next time out it would bog down at high RPMs or every time I got it on plane. Could not figure it out so I took it to the shop. They said they could not find anything wrong with it at the shop. They checked engine compression and put it on the dyno. They said they changed a needle valve in one of the carbs and changed the fuel pump diaphragm. (To the tune of $300) But could not recreate my problem. Next time out it was hard to start but ran ok for several hours. Then the problem returned. I took the cover off the engine and notice that when it would bog down I could see gas dropping off of the bottom of top carb float bowl. The bolt was alittle loose so i tighted it up but it still did not fix my bog problem. Dont want to take it to the shop and spend more $$$ if they can not figure it out! Can someone give list of things to try on my own before I take it back to the shop at $85.00 an hour!!!! Thanks! Bellybuster!

Make sure your fuel lines or the primer bulb aren't collapsing at speed. Also make certain your vent on the fuel tank is sufficiently open to prevent a vacuum on the tank. Next, check out the fuel filter and be sure it is clean. If all of these are okay, I would suspect that top carb may have a problem with the needle valve sticking in the open position. You might try rebuilding it or both carbs at the same time. If you are halfway handy with tools this should not be a problem. Good luck!

Thanks! I will check the lines and primer bulb. Dont think it is the fuel filter it was bogging down with the new one I put on. so I put the old one back on and it did the same thing. I think the vent on the fuel tank is ok I over filled the tank not long ago and gas came out of it. Where is the best place to get a carb rebuild kit? And does anyone have anymore suggestions? Thnks again!

You should be able to order the kits through any good supplier. I rebuilt mine about 3 years ago and there isn't much to them. Anyone with any mechanical ability should have no problems.
