Re: Engine bogs down

Sounds like it's time for a carb rebuild. Have you done a tune up lately? Spark Plugs Good? Good spark on the plugs? Kits are cheap and a good place to start when you are having this kind of trouble. Sounds like a float/ float needle/seat problem. Also, check the compression first to be sure you are working with a solid engine. Dealer will have rebuild kits or they are available online..

PS- Do NOT rev up the motor in neutral above 1500-2000 RPM's. Not good..

Tom, I just wanted to add something to RB's good advice. Check to see if the timer base/armature plate is stuck. It's the part under the flywheel that's supposed to rotate ~1/3 turn as you advance the throttle. Check it with the engine off of course! :)
I could be barking up the wrong tree, but the timer base is easy to check.

If gas comes out of the carburator when you squeeze the primer bulb, you're definitly looking at a needle/seat problem.

Good luck!

You are running to rich. Did you make any adjustments to the carb lately? Adjust the mixture on the carb and see what happens. Are the plugs all wet?
