Engine building tip regarding gel-seal?

Someone had told me years ago to put a dot of gel seal on the center main and upper and lower bearing housing surfaces, as it would make the motor alot quiter. Thought i'd try it with my current build, a 2001 V4 looper 135, but where would you put the gel seal on the upper and lower caps and why? the 0-rings are what contact the front half, seemingly negating the need for the gel-seal. the center main makes sense as its metal to metal. or do they mean the flat mating surface all around on the caps?

Absolutely no sealer to be used on upper and lower bearing housings !!

Don’t see a need for it myself.
And honestly it may sound silly but I think it would likely interfere with the tolerance and getting a proper torque on your bolts.

I’m sure they would and as mentioned it’s probably a silly thought. But a few dab's here and there on the circumstance of the surface add up to a measurable dab in my eyes. I’m sure I’m over thinking it and would never do it in the place.
Not even sure why I’m typing this😂

I think they started doing that on the Etecs. So yes It can be done.
yes! thats where i must've heard it. Racer here is what FaztBullet has mentioned:

Re: Crankshaft sealing rings????????????

Did you measure cylinders for out of round and taper??? As posted earlier if seal rings have any defects they need replaced, most of the V-4's I tear down will have at least two seal rings worn resulting in a lip on the edge of it. When reassembling, add a dab of gelseal to the upper/lower bearing retainer surfaces along with center main and engine will be a lot quieter, this is a fitch trick.

Build all my V4/6 loopers this way :)
ah the man speaks! haha thanks. I put an ultra-thin smear on the center main, but didn't know where to put it on the upper and lowers. any help you can give me and ill do the next one (eagle V6) that way. this is got me so curious to see if it actually works.
