Engine Control Question

Just received the Teleflex 1700 and the instructions have a couple of different cut out templates. Side mount Control and Side mount/Back mount? Two different cut outs, 1 with a box and circle type of shape and the other has 1 big circle and 2 little ones off to the bottom side of the big circle.
Anyone ever mount one of these? and what would be the difference?

Haven't seem those for a while.

Which way are you wanting to mount it?

Alot of times when in doubt I will cut out a scrap peice of wood and make sure it is fine before cuting the actual part, youshoul able able to figure out what you need that way.

One would be for the standard side of the boat and the other would be for a console mount on a center console.......... That's my wild guess.

Look at a photo of a center console and you will understand

Update on this little project today:
Cut out the smaller of the 2 templates 1st (Back Mount) and just wasn't enough room, so followed that up with the Side Mount cut out and there is plenty of room. The only problem I had really was that SeaRay used a built up frame of wood on their side panel. This created a extra thick (Double Ply) mount area and had to be removed for the new controller to fit properly, Lever was not locking in for shifting and was rubbing on the face plate. Will post a picture of finished project tomorrow.
