Engine cover / Dog house...Can these be purchased?

I searched the net and checked several parts dealers and can not find anyone that stocks engine covers. I'd like to find a fiberglass or plastic / composite engine cover. I'd hate to have to build the replacement out of wood as the original just rotted away over time.

i'd think that you could get one used out of an old boat and recover/refinish it. Though i don't believe there are any standards, due to similarity of boats they are often similar enough to use if you are redoing your interior.<br /><br />They often have flat edges and are of similiar heights. For example, the one on my sea ray or sylvan could be put in the other boat if i were redoing the surrounding area. Both boats have fiberglass engine covers.<br /><br />Mike<br /><br />Good luck

If you still have the old one, you could use it as a mold to make a fiberglass one

Just build another out of wood, and glass it up with a layer of epoxy/cloth. Line the inside with Duramat to deaden the sound then upholster or paint or whatever, it will never rot again. Good luck...

Not sure what the duramat is. I tried a google and came up with Duramat Vinyl Office Chair Mats? I decided that I'm going to go with a little different set up. I'm going to build an engine compartment that spans the width of the boat with a sun pad on top. The top will raise straight up somewhat like the hi-performance go-fasts. The face or "front" will be hinged and will lay flat against the deck for engine access. I will loose the two jump seats that were next to the old dog house, but I'll be adding a cooler seat in front of the new one. Still should have room for seating six.
