Question.....

I have a big ass inboard (Ford 351 twin turbo) and I need to build an engine cover. The last owner had a 1/2" plywood cover with a cheesy hinge. 3 concerns are....
1. Access- what would be a good way to design it?
2. Noise- I would like to reduce noise as much as possible.
3. Seating- I would like to make it so that it can be used as a seat. What is the best to prevent heat, and be a sweet seat cushion?

Here are some pics..... it is my first boat and boy did I pick a big ass boat to start with.

Thanks
Ron Smith

http://www.geocities.com/rtajajolu/index.html

Re: Engine Cover

Noise and heat could be reduced with leaded felt, the sort of stuff they use on floors and hoods in cars. Will also insulate the motor by keeping heat in, so you'll probably need to ventilate it properly, which sort of defeats the noise trap benefits.
