I have a 1971 55HP chrysler. Model 557HC. Serial 3188. After starting I put in forward and it cuts off. I tried to adjust the carb and tower. Rpms are at 1000. I tried to get to 750 but engine dies. The RPM gauge is the original one on this boat. So not really sure if it is accurate. It does register and show RPMS when you start engine. It is a starcraft boat, 1977.
PS, For those of you who are familiar with my threads. The engine started this morning, Frank told me to check cam is not upside down, and he was right. Cam was upside down all this time. Never overlook the easiest or simple solution. It was not running for 2 weeks and I tried everything and after all this time it was the cam being upside down.
