Check to see if it has spark when it wont restart, could be ignition comportments breaking down..

Good idea. Weak ignition components tend to fail once the engine heats up to "normal" operating temps. Runs fine when cold-craps out when warmed up. So test for spark when the engine is well warmed up-could be a difference.

If the battery is weak the motor will not crank fast enuff to get spark.----If starter is weak the motor will not crank fast enuff to get spark.-------Get the battery checked / load tested.

I'm guessing the 30 Mile run is in the car so the difference is the motor starts fine on the muffs but not in the water?
Back pressure?

That's why I always work on mine in the driveway with a barrel. My poly barrel is the same height as the water line on the back of the boat, about 6" over the cat plate. Course you can't put it in gear....well you can but you won't have water after about 2 seconds lol. Also a bit of a pain to fill it and empty it if you have to raise the motor up.
