I got a engine on on the stand for changing gasket's, oil pump checking internal's ect. What's good to spray on cylinder wall's and internal's to try and keep everything a little lubed till it is buttoned up.

assembly lube on all journals and cam lobes and motor oil on cylinder walls is how I do it. After assembly you can make a shaft to put in your drill and spin the oil pump (via dist. hole)until the oil passages are full of oil.
I've also used just plain old motor oil for all.

If it sets for a long time I wipe a thin layer of greese from my greese gun on everything. Bearing grease works too, or break in lube. Really any oil you have around will work to preserve and prevent rusting. Grease will hols a little better than oil if it sets for a while.

Just don't use too much, and wipe it down when re-assembling. Grease is not as tolerant with clearances as oil is.
