This engine was purchase ran good but overheated. We repalced Water pump, Tstats and still overheated. We then replaced the water deflectors and that corrected the problem. Doesnt over heat. We where able to get it up to speed but now it boggs down bad, like it has no power. Replaced fuel filter, tried new coils, New Plugs, and still no change. I will check the Compression and Test the coils tonight. After the new plugs where put it in it looked as thougt the left bank was not firiing. The plugs where really clean, RIght bank you could tell had been firing. Am I looking at a power pack now, or did something get messed up replacing the Water deflectors? We replaced the head gasket and torqued to specifications. Thank you

Run the engine. Put a timing light on each plug wire. Check for strong, constant flashes from all 4 plug wires. This will show no fires, as well as intermittent or weak.

Well Ran Compression 105 to 110 on all - TUrned out we had no spark on #4 - THought it was a bad coil - but same results. Well this whole time the was a small break in the Wire from the Power Pack to the Coi that was sparking to the cover when we put it on and when I turned the coil around it was sparking to the block. Put some shrink tubing around it and all is good now. Thanks for your help guys!
