This is something I have never seen discussed here.
What effect does engine hieght have on performance and handling?
I know if it is too high you can't apply alot of trim before it starts to cavitate but can the engine be too low?
Just for giggles I moved mine all the way down but haven't run it yet to see what it will do, I had been running almost all the way up because I was fishing alot of shallow water.
It is a 16' Sea Nymph with a 50 Evinrude and a CMC tilt trim and it consistenly runs 28-30 with the motor all the way up or on the first hole down.
I will let you know what the difference is, I am not expecting anything to drastic but it should be interesting to see if I find or lose speed.

Re: Engine height

A engine that is run to deep will not have good performance, optimum speed comes from a engine that is ran at maximum height that will turn without the engine blowing the prop out or prop walking. the old adage for speed is when in doubt UP and OUT still holds true.
