Engine Hesitation

I have a 1969 23ft Uniflite with a 210hp OMC sterndrive. Several times this summer the engine has hesitated once or twice for less then a second. When this happens the rpm's and volts don't seem to change. It has done it at slower speeds and on plane. Engine was tuned up last year and carb was rebuilt over the winter. I'm planing on changing out the first fuel filter and hope that works. Any other thoughts?

Did you change the plugs after winterization?

Re: Engine Hesitation

Could be a little junk in the carb causing a sticky float. It may be loading up or leaning out a little, not enough to cause constant problemsbut enough to cause an intermittant stall.

I did not change spark plugs last fall because they were replaced during tune up but maybe I should have.

One thing I forgot to mention is that 5 years ago when I purchased the boat I dropped the plastic end of a syphon tube inside the tank. Its still in there. Could that be doing it?
