Does anyone know what the hp is on a 470 merc it is a 1978 yr and a i/o, it is a 4cyl (gm i think)

170 hp. The model '470' is derived from 4cylinder 170 hp. The engine is a Merc special. It uses Ford 460 V8 crank, pistons and rods and cylinder head (1), but Merc cast their own block from aluminium. So it's important to run coolant in the freshwater side of the cooling system.<br /><br />Chris.......
