As anyone who has seen my recent posts will know I have removed the engine from my boat. The main reason was to replace the drive, which was worn out, but while it is out I'm stripping the engine as far as removing the heads to check it all out and do any work I find needs doing. It is a V6, but I'm struggling to identify it any more accurately than that. I can't find any serial numbers on it and am wondering if it could be a GM V6 that someone marinised at some time. It was fitted to the boat around 2000 to replace the original straight 6 mercruiser engine. the main block has the following maqrkings on the end where the bell housing would mount "L262", "GM 4.3LG" and "14099090M". The inlet manifold has "GM 12552422" on it. At the front of the engine it has "4G". Any help appreciated.

Ayuh,... Sounds like a 4.3l GM,... They've been used in boats, since introduced...
