Going from a stop to full throttle(Pulling a skier out of the hole) or just dropping the thottle I sometimes get a hesitation in the engine and then picks right back up - Generally runs fine and on slower progress for spped does not hesitate - Any ideas what would cause this and what I could do to prevent it?

Thanks

Re: Engine lag

What kind of motor? What year? Has it sat for any length of time? Carbs or injected? What kind of fuel and how old? What plugs?

Re: Engine lag

The engine is a 220hp merc. on a 20'Cruiser Inc. 1985. Carbed , new fuel. It hasn't set at all this happens during the season and I have it tuned each year - Carb was rebuilt in 1998. Not sure of the actual plug type - I would accept any suggestions

Thanks

Re: Engine lag

Hi, I got a Merc 1150 that had the same problem. It was set too lean, I so I adjusted it to a richer setting. Problem was cured. I would check the manual for your settings, It is an easy fix if that is the problem.

Good Luck
