Above is a link to a video of the leak I seem to be having. A keep my boat on a lift, and as soon as I drop it in the water, this happens. It continues until I raise it back out of the water on the lift. 2001 Galaxie Deckboat 1800 w/ Volvo Penta 4.3 GL I/O. The area you are looking at is in the very stern of the boat, the drain plug would be just to the right. The "leak" appears to be coming from above off engine, but why does this happen as soon as I set her in the water with the engine off?

Re: Engine Leak?

I am thinking this is a problem with your driveshaft bellows. I moved it over to the Volvo I/O section. These boys should be able to help you out. Good luck!

Re: Engine Leak?

Ayuh,... I would guess a holed bellows, or rotten transom....

Ya need to see where it's comin' In,... not where it's collectin' in the bilge...

Re: Engine Leak?

Thanks QC, I wasn't sure where to post it.

IRT Bond-o, I am going to do a bit more investigating tomorrow. Any advice on where/ & how to look?

Re: Engine Leak?

Check the Bellows from the outside of the transom. Big rubber thing, tilt up and feel all around it. Do a Google images search for Volvo SX bellows, and I am sure you'll see what we are talking about. That thing that looks like a corrugated hose is, and it needs to be watertight. If it's leaking you really need to have the drive popped off for a look see ;)

Re: Engine Leak?

Thanks QC.
I had my outdrive cable replaced last month by my mechanic. Could a poor installation have caused this leak? I have only had this boat a couple months, and only 1 trip out prior to having the boat serviced/outdrive cable replaced.
