Engine Mounts Install

Hi all.
I'm about to install the new engine mounts I bought and have managed to get all the 5 bolts plus the stud nut, which attach the brackets to the engine, to move. There is always one bolt though isn't there. Some of the head of one bolt had worn down so a 9/16" socket would just spin. Luckily a 13mm 6 sided socket lightly tapped on got it to turn. I did tighten them all back up though. I just hope the stainless bolts undo, but I'm sure they will.
I've watched achris's video on alignment so I'm confident I should get that right.
I do have a question about supporting the engine whilst removing the old mounts and installing the new ones. Someone has suggested I could chock it under the harmonic balancer and also the rear of the manifolds.
I saw in achris's video that he used a crane attached to the eye on the water pump to support it, but I sadly I don't have a crane.
Has anyone got another solution please?

Ayuh,..... Build a bridge across the gunnels, 'n lift the motor from it,....

Are, now I do have a rather strong scaffold pipe I could do that with. Thank you Bondo.

when i need access requiring raising the motor slightly i've used a bottle jack under the exhaust manifold....if there is enough room between the manifold and stringer that is

Thanks dubs. Someone else suggested that too. I think if I do one at a time and use belt and braces (you call them suspenders) and use my bottle jack and pole across the gunwales it should spread the weight.

The best method for you depends on what you have to work with as far as supporting structure around the engine.

I did not see which engine you are working on, but I have used a scissor jack under the exhaust manifold when I replaced the engine mounts on my 7.4L Merc. I thought it was best to support and replace the mount one side at a time.

Not sure I'd want to lift by the harmonic balancer or anything down below.

three 2x6's screwed together across the gunnels and a hand full of ratchet straps are my go-to
