Engine Noise

I am new at the boating game and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I need to find some info on the noise levels of some different engines. I am mostly interested in 50-75hp range. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where I can find this info or has any advice on which is the quietest. Thank You

zebrahead,<br /><br />I'll take a stab at it.<br /><br />The four strokes and DFI 2 strokes are going to be quieter throughout the the throttle ranges than a carbureted 2 stroke.<br /><br />All bets are off at wide open throttle.<br /><br />Engine makers do not publish decibel levels because the boat itself has makes too much of a variance on the decibel levels perceived.<br /><br />Trailer Boats Magazine does sound testing on different rigs. However, they also use a disclaimer on their findings saying that the boat itself is sometimes the determining factor.
