I have had problems because my volvo 4.3L v6 with raw water cooling system does not seem to get warmed up all the way the heat risers do get alittle warm but it doesn't seem to be very warm and while flushing engine water coming out of the engine is warm but also doesn't seem as hot as should be. needle pretty much never moves from cold band on indicator. Thermostat has been changed. the engine seems to run fine but I am worried that this could be a damaging situation or does the engine just run that way????? Temperature indication works fine but always stays at cold.

Re: engine not warming up

You have about 4 threads on this same subject, why don't you just keep the same thread going. Each time there is a reply added to the thread, the thread gets moved to the top of the first page.
Have you ever actually checked the engine temp with the temp gun I mentioned in one of your other threads. The temp of the risers is not the same as the engine.

Re: engine not warming up

THERE ARE FOUR THREADS BECAUSE SINCE THE QUESTIONS ABOUT A TEMP GUN RENTALS AND IF THIS A DAMAGING SITIUTATION TO THE ENGINE HAVE NOT BEEN ANSWERED.
QUESTION #1 IS THERE ANY WHERE TO RENT TEMP GUNS?

QUETION #2 IS THIS A SITUATION THAT WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE WHEN RUNNUNG COLD?

QUESTION #3 WHAT WOULD MAKE AN ENGINE RUN COOL IF THE THERMOSTAT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. LIKE I STATED IN MY OTHER POSTS, I INSTALLED THE TEMP SENSOR INTO HOT WATER THE TEMP GAUGE WOULD READ AT A HOT TEMP AND REDUCE AS WATER GOT COLD SO OBVIOUSLY THE INDICATION IS WORKING CORRECTLY.

Go to your local love shack, er, radio shack and get one of these for 50 small ones:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=22-325

I have it and I use it all the time. Even got it on sale for less.

Are you sure you have all the parts installed properly? That was the Homer Simpson that I pulled (Doh!).

If you don't have a manual, go here and look at the cooling diagram for your model and year.
