So im sure some of you will remember me from my previous posts on the problems ive been having with my nightmare of an engine. Well after all my work ive put into it i finally fixed the spark problem and it ran great!! Until i took it out for a test run. I noticed no water was coming out the pee hole so i shut it down and it seemed like i had a cloged line so i cleared it and headed back to the ramp but i guess it stoped flowing again and it overheated so bad it melted the plastic on the coils where they bolt to the motor and it also fried my starter somehow. And my engine is now a bronze color instead of silver. lol I know i have to replace the starter and water pump and do a compression test and posibly replace the coils if they are fried but any other suggestion on what to look for?

Re: Engine Over Heated BAD!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

Sorry I have no clue on your previous problems. For those who like me - could you share a small secret? Like are you dealing with a 1975 9.9 or maybe a 2006 225 ETEC?

As to your question an what to look for - I'd start with bad compression, busted piston rings, probably chunks out of pistons, warped head (s), vanes off of water pump impellor, etc. Do a compression check and post the results.

Re: Engine Over Heated BAD!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

lol im sorry, i keep forgeting to post my engine information. I have a 1985 Evinrude 150 Hp E150TXCOS. Basicly i had issues with it stalling after a few seconds and couldnt get it running. It turned out to be a bad ignition swithch.

Im going to go get a starter this week so i can do a compression test befor i do anything. If it says i have good compression still im gona get a new water pump kit and do that. Will that come with everything i will need?
