if i was to change my old stock prop on my 1974 70 hp with the same pitch/diameter and all but to a stainless steel would it help my boat? i dont know what rpm my boat motor turns to find out which prop would be best. at full throttle my boat kinda bogs but if u pull up on the throttle about 1/2 inch it opens on up to that speed. wont go at full throttle. would a new stainless prop same pitch as my old work better? my boat runs 28-29mph 16ft dixie.

Two things.

First you need a tach. Whether or not you buy a new prop. You need a water pressure gauge. New prop or not.

Second -- get the motor running correctly. The motor "bogging" may mean its running lean above 1/2 throttle. Your pistons dont like that. "Bogging" is a very general term that can mean many things. A little more detail would help us help you.

Good luck!

Contact these folks at TinyTach and tell 'um what engine you have and how much wire you'll need to run from the engine to where you'll mount the tach. It'll set ya back about 30 skins. Your OMC dealer can fix you up with a water pressure gauge.
If your old prop iz aluminum, the ss prop will help your boats performance. The ss prop is not as flexable as the old one.

TinyTach Page

c/6
Hooty
