Hi guys have a 88 125 force took the boat to the dock started up no problem . Since it was the start of the season let it idle for a bit left the dock took it easy everything seemed fine got up on plane np . Decided to idle for a few min engine stated to sound like it was missing then stalled. Wouldn't restart. Seemed to turn over at a good speed but wouldn't start . Anybody have this happen any suggestions where i might start would be great.

Having no idea how your motor's been maintained, I'd start with the plugs; some new ones might be in order? And if your fuel isn't fresh.....

Could the engine overheated? If not, check make sure the kill switch was not jarred loose. Second, check make sure you have sparks on all four plugs. Then check make sure there is fuel delivery to the carbs. If you have sparks and it still would not fire at all, get a small spray bottle and fill it with fuel-oil mix about half way. Half someone crank it over while you spray into each carb.

Make sure you align cooling water on muffs and remove the air cover. If it at least "coughs" then you know you have fuel related problem. You might want to install a clear fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carb's inlet. Check other threads for further info on how and why is this.

If the engine overheated, check compression first and repost your readings.

Check the flywheel key and see if it's sheared?
Check thee flywheel magnet and see if it's loose.
Compression and spark test.
