I am going to be removing the 7.4L engine from my '93 Crownline 225 CCR. Can anyone send me a diagram of the rear engine mounting details, it is very difficult to reach/see behind this engineo on this boat and it would be helpful to know what needs to be removed. Are there any sketches/diagrams of the connection to the transom/rear engine housing. Any tips on removing this engine? Thanks!

Take the outdrive off . . .

There are 2 big bolts at the rear of the engine and 2 bolts either side holding the forward mounts. so that is six bolts total.

Undo the fuel, electrical contections and the controls, and that engine is yours.

Mercruiser I/O's are much easier to remove than one would think. After removing the outdrive, unhooking the cables and electrical system harness and pulling the exhaust loose, there is one bolt on each side of the engine in the rear with tapered washers. Then, you remove lag screws going down into the hull bottom stringers and lift the motor out--without removing the front motor mount.

An experienced marine mechanic can pull an engine in a matter of minutes--not hours.

So getting to these rear motor mount bolts, do yo ugo in through the transom to get to these bolts? Or do you still have to try to see them from inside the motor bay. Also, why do you take the front mounts off with the lag screws in lieu of the big nuts? Out of curiousity?

Everything (everything) is from inside the engine bay.

You probably just need to look a little further back in the engine bay to find the rear mounts.

You take the lag bolts out of the front mounts so that you do not loose the adjustments on the front mounts (which are the big nuts).

Ayuh,.... It's also a Great place to block up the motor, sittin' on the shop floor...
