Not sure if I am doing this correctly. I think I am misunderstanding the instructions when it comes to the gimble bearing / coupler area. Do I need to remove the gimble bearing prior to engine removal. I have removed the 8 bolts on the transom plate, engine mount bolts, linkages, etc. It looks like the engine is ready to lift out. The question is whether it is still attached to the transom plate and whether further disassembly is required. Thanks.

you dont need to unbolt the transome plate JUST the two motor mount bolts

You do need to pull the outdrive first ?

Thank you for your response. Pulling everything plate because the transom and deck is shot. Engine good, runs fine, less than 8 yrs old. Outdrive ok but knew I would need to service it so decided to pull everything to rebuild transom, etc.

Have supported the engine and all motor mount bolts are removed. Two in the back and the one in the front. Tried to gently pry the housing assembly from the back of the boat and i am getting resistance around the bearing area. Unless I am mistaken at this point I should be able to slightly lift the engine and pull it out and away from the plate. ?????

again, thanks for the response.

Greater acceptance through lower standards.

Sorry, I'm an idiot. Yes the drive is off. The only thing remaining back there is the gimble ring. Shift cable, exhaust, water hose, trim hoses and all linkages have been removed. Shift arm still attached to the gimble ring. Removed the exhaust elbow and bellows from the manifold and the tube going to the transom plate. Wanted to check the flapper plate (not there) in the exhaust.

tks

the 1 in the front? easier to remove all the lags from the front mount and lift with the front mount attached to the motor
