Hi Folks,
I am restoring a boat with a AQD40A/280B and in the process of dropping the leg to renew the bellows I discovered the exhaust riser badly corroded. I got the pipe released from the transom shield but there is not enough clearance between the transom and the bell housing to remove it and replace it. The backing material for the transom bracket is also in need of repair.
My bold plan is to unbolt the forward engine mounts from the stringers, unbolt the bolts I see from the back of the transom plate and ease her forward a foot while supporting the aft edge of the engine. I am hoping this will give me the space I need to replace those parts.
Your comments and feedback are appreciated.
