I am sorry for kind of posting same type of question as on this Thread

I want to make a flush system using a couple of open/close valves. I want to run the engine while flushing with fresh water.

Question:
Will it cause damage to pump impeller or anything else if I run the engine with a closed water passage at the raw water intake hose?
Please, shere your experience :) Thank you

on paper a floppy vane pump will reach its pressure and the vanes will just self adjust and nothing will happen

in Reality the water is going to get hot from the friction and at some point get real hot because theres no fresh water to cool it

it would be more complex to plumb but IMHP better to give the raw water some way to go overboard

there are plenty of bronze 3 way valves at places like mcmaster carr to make a DIY system
