Hopefully this question makes sense. I have a 200 hp johnson 1996- j200stledm. The engine at idle runs fine no spitting or bogging and it also starts good to. Once i put it in gear it still runs fine, but when I give it a little gas (800rpms slowest) to about 900 to 1100rpm the engine shakes quite a bit. It has never done this before until recently.
Quick background, was going to take apart and clean carbs due to im down a few hundred rpms from normal (5500rpms being where i was before and now only getting 5100rpms with same set-up) Had buddy- (a mechanic) talk me out of it since he checked and said they were fine. I still was not sure so i took it to a mechanic and he said no need to do the carbs and replaced the power pack. The engine still shakes and i'm stuck
Do you pros think my carbs are causing the shaking or something else like worn splines
Thanks for your time and knowledge

Hey diggs
Some times can ignition coil be okay when they are cold. But the resistance will be bigger, when the temp. is going up. Sometimes those ignition coil can be burned inside, with out you can see it, or without that the resistance is out of normal, according to the service-manual.
A bad ignition-coil, can still give (weak)spark to the plug. Maby one off your ignition coils are bad. If so, you can find it here.
http://ishopmarine.com/ishop/jsp/As...~A0000021~M0008415~M0008443~M0008447~C0165715
