Engine SIZE???

I have a 20ft aluminum deep-V fishing boat built in the 70's. There is no identification plate on the boat to tell me MAX Hp. Can anyone offer any info on what would be a safe maximum horsepower outboard to put on this type boat?<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Sean

115 to 150 would do you well and give you enough HP to get you home if you were facing a storm. Personaly Id go with 140-150 as I am a firm beleiver in max HP. You never hear anyone say they wish they didnt have that much HP, You always hear the opposite.
