Engine Sluggis and mis-firing at high load

I have a 97' V8 with a carburetor. The problem I am experiencing is the engine is hesitating and sometimes mis-firing when given full throttle. The engine runs fine at idle and when gradually accelerated, but when I punch the throttle, the engine hesitates and mis-fires sometimes. She also has decreased her top speed from 50 mph to 45 mph.

So far I've changed the plugs, checked the wires, new distribitor cap/rotor, checked fuel for water/debri and replaced the fuel filter. Not sure where to go next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would do a compression check and if all is well...go ahead and rebuild the carb. You could start with the sticky at the top. I believe its labeled possible causes of low wot. Start working your waythru the list.

You know, I agree with the carb being rebuilt. What is your WOT? You may also want to adjust the throw on your accel pump on the carb.
