engine smoke

200 evinrude, smokes at start then eventually lessens. If I leave the boat off for about an hour then restart it it seems to smoke more than the original first start, very embarrasing at restaurants. any ideas why such an oil buid-up?

Is the smoke really bad? How does it start cold? Does it have enough power at WOT?<br /><br />If this is a VRO, I'd block off the oil circuit to the VRO, mix a portable tank of 50:1, and see if it does it with the VRO used only as a fuel pump. If the problem goes away with the use of premix....its a VRO issue....(you may need to disconnect the sensors on the VRO for this test, or it'll drive you nuts)<br />Also look for air leaks in the fuel lines and connectors from tank to engine....

Bad piston rings? Not the likely culprit on a 2-stroke.

What brand of oil are you using? What spark plugs?<br /><br />Good luck!
