Engine stalled

Took my 2011 Q7i to the lake yesterday. Ran great as always. We stopped for a dip in the lake and drifted a bit. I cranked up to reposition and was slowly moving and the engine just stalled. As if it were getting no gas. Only briefly and never shut off. I throttled down to idle, then throttled up again with no trouble. Repositioned the boat, drifted a while longer, then when I took off, again it seemed to stall and this time as I was throttling up higher to get on plane. Ran the boat for probably another hour with no issues. Any thoughts on what I should look for as the cause? Thanks

sounds like a tune-up issue, cap/rotor, fuel filter(s), plugs...

if this is an mpi model, the flat distributor cap design is prone to corrosion, esp in saltwater

Yes, it is an MPI model. It's only been about 30 hours use since last service and only 50 hours total on the engine. Could it. Need a tune up that soon? Thanks

I had the same issue on my Q7i. It turned out that the distributor cap was bad and needed to be replaced. Runs like new now.
