lI have a 1989 Sunbird 208 -OMC-Chevy engine and OMC outdrive. Runs great on open water at all speeds. However, when I come into dock the boat and move stick from slow forward to netural it stalls out and floods. Rebuild carb on it 2years ago. Any ideas? Thanks

Is this carb or EFI? If it is a carb on top, then maybe you have an issue with the float. Damaged float needle, debris in the float bowl? Also, from slow forward to neutral it could be the spark interuptor cutting the engine. Doesn't explain flooding, but it would explain a wet plug. Have you checked it to see that it has spark when that happens?

Stalling when shifting could be the idle is too low or the shift assist module or switch is bad.
Or possibly the shift cable is bad and not allowing the shift interrupt system to function.
Drop the drive and check the bellcrank area for corrosion.

If it stalls from slow forward to neutral only, and not from reverse to neutral... try this: Next time it stalls out, switch it to reverse and back to neutral before you start it. If that works consistently, then you are looking at an issue with the spark interrupt - shift switch.
