I recently got a boat with a 1979 100HP Johnson.
I have a problem when starting the engine and running at low rpm. Actually, when my friend had it last year it run fine. When it runs at close to idle or idle speeds it starts loosing rpm's until it stalls and then it becomes very hard to start again. Actually, the best way is to wait for about 15-30 minutes and try to restart.
Besides this, is there anything else I should check in this engine that you know breaks or fails. Any improvements recomeneded?
Thanks in advance-

This is a carbed engine, so I would suspect water in the bowl(s) of the carbs and possably in the tank too. Reason being, it starts best if it sits (water settles-out of the fuel in the bowls and tank, and re-gathers under the fuel.
Give it a looksee. I got my fingers crossed for ya.
